BalinTanaw Art Exhibition

ARTIST STATEMENT

In my artistic exploration through watercolors and oil paintings for BalinTanaw, I delve into the rich tapestry of personal memories, encapsulating the daily struggles that shape my journey as an artist. The collection unfolds against the backdrop of significant locales such as Las Piñas, Puwerta Santa Lucia, and Intramuros, each serving as a canvas for the embodiment of perseverance in my craft.

Puwerta Santa Lucia, a bridge steeped in historical significance, holds a sacred and ritualistic presence in my work. It becomes a metaphorical gateway to both past triumphs and enduring connections, becoming a wellspring of inspiration that profoundly influences my artistic expression. These artworks, embodying portals through which I navigate time and space, find their voice through the fluidity of watercolors, chosen deliberately to candidly capture their enigma and do justice to their inherent charm.

In my larger pieces, I embrace oil as my medium of choice, allowing me to craft a layered texture that brings to life the subjects defining pivotal moments in time. This deliberate selection of medium becomes an integral part of my artistic process, as I seek to unravel the complexities of my personal narrative and convey the resilience that blossoms amid the challenges of my artistic journey.

Emerging from the culmination of my exploration in "Fashion Victims Chapter 3" in Manila, my latest artistic endeavor unveils a captivating parody within the vibrant tapestry of a group exhibition. In this collection, deliberate exaggerations take center stage, not as a means to ridicule but to exalt the unexpected fusion of glamour, consumerism, extravagance, sensuality, animation, and hedonism. This amalgamation unfolds seamlessly within the enchanting realms of music, science fiction, and the timeless allure of both vintage and contemporary fashion icons.

The heart of my exhibition lies in the Illiustography series and the diptych "Roses are not Red," paying homage to unbridled spontaneity infused with a nuanced touch of refinement and sophistication. A symphony of vibrant pinks and reds, meticulously crafted through the expressive strokes of ballpoint pen and ink, encapsulates the essence of my artworks for the "Roses are not Red" series, a dynamic fusion of

the mixed media of acrylic and colored pencils, is applied offering a multi-dimensional experience that resonates with the viewer. Within this artistic journey, I find my voice through the medium of colored pencil, as well as ball point pen and ink, and acrylic on canvas. It is within the intricate dance of these materials that my thematic narratives unfold, allowing me to capture the timeless beauty and subtle forms that permeate my creative vision.

My art is an elaborate, gripping visual poetry. It explores the beauty and complexity of the inner world. Highly intricate, colorful, symbolic, and beautifully complicated, each creation highlights the fascinating details of a memory, event, recurring emotion, perception, vision, or state of mind.

Although I work with various mediums, I am more drawn to executing works of art in mixed media, acrylic, colored writing pens and ink, and water-based oils. For each piece, I derive inspiration from the unique qualities of various elements found in nature and people. Then, I blend these attributes to create a surreal scenario that compels beholders to delve deeper into the facet of the inner world I magnified in my creation, as it reveals one beautiful complexity after another the longer you look at it.

Combining my unique eye for detail with my love for literature and fascination for the workings of the human mind imbues each piece with a mystical-like atmosphere and strangely cohesive quality. It brings all the elements together to form a captivating, fantastical image that is as inexplicably unified as it is distinctively diverse.

Every work of art I create is a prayer in itself - a celebration of my passion for the complexities and interpretations of the hidden aspects or meanings of life.

Angels, a recurring motif in my artistic endeavors, once again take center stage in my latest collection for BalinTanaw. These celestial beings serve as a profound embodiment of my introspective journey and act as guiding muses, facilitating a visual exploration of the internal dialogues that shape my choices and convictions. Within the realm of traditional oil on canvas and the new frontier of digital art, I deliberately traverse diverse mediums, reflecting the evolving trajectory of my artistic mindset and a fervent commitment to pushing boundaries.

My choice to work with traditional oil on canvas is a deliberate homage to the timeless and classical, where the tactile nature of the medium becomes a metaphor for the tangible essence of my artistic vision. On the other hand, my foray into digital art underscores a willingness to embrace the future, pushing the boundaries of artistic expression and delving into innovative possibilities.

As I present this collection for BalinTanaw, I invite viewers to engage with the multifaceted layers of my work, unraveling the nuances of emotion, thought, and artistic exploration. The juxtaposition of traditional and digital mediums, coupled with the symbolic presence of angels, forms a cohesive narrative that transcends mere aesthetic appeal, delving into the very core of my creative essence. In doing so, I aim to provoke contemplation, spark conversation, and inspire a shared journey into the depths of artistic introspection.
